Hotel Marshfield – The Northwoods’ Backyard

Review of Hotel Marshfield in Wisconsin

When people think of vacationing in Wisconsin, generally it is thought that you have to head north to a lake or off to Door County. However, we found a hidden gem right in our own backyard! In fact, it may as well be called The Northwoods’ Backyard!

Marshfield, Wisconsin has a perfect spot for a mid-week getaway or even a long weekend – Hotel Marshfield. This hotel was renovated in 2013 and offers a wonderful assortment of amenities many people would not think available in this part of the state. From the lush rooms to the outstanding outdoor courtyard and pool, Hotel Marshfield has transformed itself into a destination for vacationers across the region.

Hotel Marshfield Pool

Great set-up for lounging or having lunch poolside

A highlight from our stay was the beautiful courtyard and pool area. The courtyard is well maintained and clean, which is obviously a point of pride for the hotel. There are plenty of loungers around the pool, although it is not overcrowded either – the perfect fit.

After check-in, we headed directly for the pool and didn’t leave until the sun went down. We soaked up the rays while enjoying ice cold drinks, which we were able to order right from our seats. That is what we call, service! 🙂

We arrived to a number of patrons enjoying lunch outside, which is another great feature for those looking for maximum outdoor time during the Summer months! We ordered food poolside and enjoyed it while laying under a two person cabana.

Hotel Marshfield Pool Area

Hotel Marshfield courtyard includes two hot tubs, a sauna and fire pit

Along with the pool, the courtyard also features two hot tubs and a sauna. We enjoyed spending time in the hot tubs once the sun went down. However, they are set to slightly different temperatures, so the cooler of the two was fine even during the hot afternoon heat. The sauna was perfect too, although I didn’t spend a ton of time inside, it was in the mid 80’s that day.

Another great feature of the courtyard, especially for Wisconsin, is the fire pit. It is set up for a number of people to gather around, which would be ideal during a chilly evening or the colder months of the year. I bet you can even makes s’mores when it’s turned on!

Libby McNeill’s restaurant and bar is located inside Hotel Marshfield. This serves as a restaurant for those staying at the hotel, as well as people looking for a quality lunch or dinner out in Marshfield. There is plenty of seating indoors, along with the courtyard when weather permits. There is a full menu along with daily food specials, so finding something to suit every palate should not be a problem.

We enjoyed a delicious pizza by the pool during the afternoon and later had a drink at the bar. It is a great atmosphere with friendly bartenders, which makes for a fun environment.

Live music on Wednesday nights during the summer at Libby McNeill’s

Wisconsin summer evenings are some of the best around. What could make them better? How about adding live music!

Hotel Marshfield hosts Live at Libby’s, which features a live musical guest every Wednesday. Ryan McIntrye from the Milwaukee area was the artist performing during our stay and we thoroughly enjoyed the performance. His set ran from 5pm until roughly 9pm and was set up outside in the courtyard.

Live music. Perfect weather. Drinks outside. Well done Libby’s.
