We’re on day two of four in Zagreb and spent it walking around the city. The weather is perfect, we love our Airbnb apartment and the vibe in Zagreb is great! We enjoyed some pizza and saw a few cool spots around the city.
We’ll be hopping on a bus bright and early tomorrow and making our way to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Keep tabs on us via Snapchat and Instagram, as this UNESCO World Heritage site looks like it’s going to be b-e-a-utiful!
Since I last updated you, we made our way from Austria through Slovenia and now into Croatia.
We spent six days in Vienna hotel hopping and sight seeing. We had pretty gloomy weather, but made the most of it anyway. Our favorite day was spent hiking around the vineyards on the outskirts of the city. We happened to be there for the annual Wine Hiking weekend and had a blast joining locals and tourists for some wine, cheese, and early autumn sunshine.
Our next stop was Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. We had another few days of chilly weather, but braved it for an afternoon out and took part in a free city walking tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Ljubljana and Slovenia in general.
From Ljubljana we took a short bus ride to Bled, to see the famous Lake Bled first hand. Unfortunately, we never ended up getting the beautiful views you see in pictures as it was mostly cloudy during the two days we spent there. Lucky for us we booked a hotel and spa deal, so we had an afternoon of spa treatments to enjoy indoors. We enjoyed hour long massages and spent the rest of the afternoon sweating it all out in the saunas! We left feeling great and have decided to forgo alcohol until Matt’s birthday. Sometimes you just need a break. 🙂
Speaking of alcohol, we met a couple from Canada (Hello Tanis and Eric!) at a pub who encouraged us to visit Vintgar Gorge. We are so glad we listened to them. How beautiful is this place?!
We’ll be in Croatia until the end of the week, when we head to country number 32…Montenegro! We spent Matt’s birthday last year in Seoul and this year we’ll be celebrating it in the coastal town of Kotor!
Now, this is where we need YOUR help.
We are quickly coming up on our next housesit in Barcelona, where we are going to be centrally located and within walking distance of the city center. We want to see the sites, eat plenty of tapas and drink the wine. So…
Have you been to Barcelona? Please leave us any and all advice on places to see, things to eat and wine to drink! Thanks in advance!
