1. Amazing Mazes at Meuer Farms
Chilton, WI
Be prepared to be wowed by Meuer Farms a-“maze”-ing corn mazes. Each year, this local farm designs a new maze once autumn rolls around. The 2017 design will be in celebration of Elvis, but be sure to check out the intricate designs from previous years. Bonus! Paths are wide enough for strollers. Additional activities include educational hayrides that teach families about sustainable farming, duck races, and corn cannons. This awesome day-trip destination is located approximately 40 minutes southeast of Appleton.
2. Pick Your Own Free Pumpkin at Mulberry Lane Farm
Hilbert, WI
From mid-September through Halloween, the Mulberry Lane Farm includes a free pumpkin (pick your own) with the cost of admission. With nearly 10 acres of plump pumpkins to sift through, this is a great way to make memories with your kids. While you’re there, don’t forget to see and pet the farm animals of Mulberry Lane! The farm is only 30 minutes from Appleton, making it an easy car ride for the family.
3. Pumpkin Bowling (and more!) at Porter’s Patch
Bonduel, WI
Head to Porter’s Patch in Bonduel for a bit of pumpkin everything – from pumpkin bowling to pumpkin twister and pumpkin painting. Parents: stock up on Porter’s fresh, locally-grown harvest while your children play. Porter’s Patch is a perfect and easy road trip, located approximately 26 miles from the heart of Appleton.

4. PYO Juicy Apples at Apple Valley Orchard
De Pere, WI
Have a bushel of fun picking your own (PYO) apples with your family. With 18 juicy varieties to choose from, Apple Valley Orchard makes for the perfect day trip. On weekends, jump aboard one of their trams for a fun ride to the orchards. Be sure to bring your own picking containers (and cash or check only!). Apple Valley Orchard is only 35 minutes from the Appleton area.
5. Pumpkin Painting at Zedland Farm
Lomira, WI
Let your child’s artistic side shine while painting pumpkins at Zedland Farm. For $3 per pumpkin, your kids will have a blast designing their very own masterpieces (and you will get fun fall décor for your porch afterwards)! After painting, your children can enjoy the petting zoo and discover their inner adventurer on the straw bale climber. Free admission to those ages 5 and under! Located just under an hour from Appleton, this is the perfect pit stop if you’re heading towards Milwaukee with the family.
