The Update: The State of Great Big Globe

Hello friends! It’s been awhile since our last edition of The Update!  We’ve been spending a lot of time catching up with life in the U.S. We’ve taken a few shorter trips, including an impact travel focused trip with Fathom Travel and a cabin getaway in northern Wisconsin. We’ve even had the opportunity to take a local house sit in Alana’s hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin.

Some exciting news – We picked up the keys to our very own apartment! It’s been over two years since we’ve had a place to call our own, and frankly it feels great to have a home base again. We’re relocating back to one of favorite cities in the world: Madison, Wisconsin!

Madison has a lot of happy memories – It’s where we bought our first house, got engaged, and eventually got married! We spent seven wonderful years in Madison and developed many life-long friendships and we’re looking forward to reconnecting with those people. And, Bonus – We have family in the area too! Other than being in desperate need of some furniture, the transition and move is going to be pretty easy for us.

So, what does this mean for Great Big Globe?

Well, it means that our 2+ year around-the-world trip has officially come to an end. It also means we will finally be answering two of your most commonly asked questions:

What was your favorite place?

How much did this crazy adventure cost you?

Stayed tuned as we will answer both of those in the coming weeks.

What doesn’t it mean?

It doesn’t mean Great Big Globe is coming to an end. And it definitely doesn’t mean we are done traveling.

If we have anything to say about it, we’ll never be done traveling. We’ve only seen a small sliver of the world and there is so much more we want to experience. In fact, we already have two trips planned for early 2017!

Do you have any questions for us? From the beginning we promised to be an open book and not hold any details back. So, feel free to leave questions below or send us an email through our contact page.  We’ll answer them in an upcoming post.
